indi

by | Saturday, December 8, 2007 |

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="120.0"] 1618709-1200944-thumbnail.jpg[/caption] i think in every multiple dog household there is a dog everyone loves to hate. indi is ours – we all revel in giving her flack. when i begin posting videos (coming soon – for now try to contain your excitement), i would estimate that at least 75% will involve indi being dragged, chewed, humped or otherwise mauled in a very loving fashion. lest you develop concern for indi, keep in mind she has a way of...

the hairy eyeball

by | Wednesday, December 5, 2007 |

instilling fear in allhairy eyeball, noun: a glance made with partially lowered eyelids. this usually indicates suspicion or hostility but may signal other emotions too. in wilson’s case, hostility is the only emotion. the dog standing over wilson (aka “the wiz”) is reilley, a very large wolfhound…not worth a second thought to all 10 lbs of the wiz. the second after this picture was snapped, reilley caught the wrath of heck for the sin of merely looking at...

the superior species

by | Wednesday, December 5, 2007 |

this was the scene on our deck this weekend while dave & i were fastidiously hanging holiday lights. they’re relaxing…we’re working – and they say we're the smarter species....

sir owney

by | Thursday, November 15, 2007 |

owney is a once in a lifetime dog – he’s my personal buddha. we rescued him from a crappy situation – he had been purchased as a puppy to be breeding stock but developed an underbite and his owner had no use for him.    fortunately the guy contacted me and asked me to take him – done deal. he is truly one of the greatest beings - i don’t say this in a “he’s my favorite dog” kind of way – i say this in an “i aspire to be...

the possibilities are endless

by | Monday, November 12, 2007 |

when dave or i mention how many dogs we have, more often than not, the response is “i would have that many if i could.”  guess what people, you can.  it takes a little change of lifestyle, of course, but you too can make it happen. we have lived in a smaller house with ¼ acre yard and a larger house with 5 acres with the same amount of dogs. the main difference i see is with the ¼ acre yard you work to keep weight off and with the 5 acres you...

the twins

by | Sunday, November 4, 2007 |

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="120.0"] 1618709-1132991-thumbnail.jpg[/caption] garcia & demeter are the head bitches here...and i don't mean that in a kind way - they're total bitches who think they are the schizzle.  they are a formidable team and are rarely found separately.  their complete disdain for other dogs actually turns to adoration for humans.  they are now the house elders and not letting anyone forget it.  this picture was taken when they were...

saturday morning coming down

by | Sunday, November 4, 2007 |

this is reilley & i chillin' on a saturday morning - he fancies himself my lap dog. if he gets the position right this is usually fine but if he gets it wrong, t's quite possible death is imminent once the extreme pressure his enormous body puts on my system is relieved. this is reilley’s second post on the blog in a very short amount of time. since he’s rarely away from my side, i think this will be about par for the course. i actually welcome reilley’s abundant...

early warning system

by | Tuesday, October 30, 2007 |

simonsimon is our security system...at the first sign of an intruder, box truck, delivery truck, visitor, friend or foe simon lets loose rapid fire, incredibly loud barks.  his only function is as a warning system as once you pass the gates, he will immediately shut up and run away (or alternatively run away while barking).  he relies on other members of the pack to do the dirty work.  he's our boo!  ...
